Stephanie Lake is a CIHR and Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholar in the School of Population and Public Health at UBC and a graduate student researcher with the BC Centre on Substance Use. She is the Chair of the Vancouver chapter of Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy (CSSDP) and serves on CSSDP’s national Board of Directors. She is currently undertaking a research project to understand how cannabis use and wide-scale cannabis legalization might impact the use of opioids (e.g., heroin, fentanyl, and other prescription painkillers), engagement in the health care system, and a range of health outcomes (e.g., overdose) among people who use illicit drugs. She has published numerous first-author studies in leading peer-reviewed journals in her field including The International Journal of Drug Policy and Drug and Alcohol Dependence. She has published several op-eds in local and national media outlets including The Vancouver Sun, iPolitics, and The Conversation Canada.
